FOX CHASE CANCER CENTER       Philadelphia, PA
The goal of the project was to increase the amount of
patients admitted without increasing the number of New Patient Office
staff and with minimal impact to existing IT systems and budgets.
CHALLENGE
Fox Chase Cancer Center identified a need to address the operating inefficiencies
of the New Patient Admissions process. The Fox Chase New Patient Office is responsible
for every new patient that is seen by a physician, both inpatients and outpatients.
They are responsible for patients' phone calls regarding admission, collecting patients'
medical and insurance information, scheduling their first appointments, and communicating
with referring physicians' offices.
SOLUTION
. Or solution was to implement a team worklist that displayed every staff member's
list of active patients in the process, and status in the admission process.
We also implemented a way to assign a staff member the ability to temporarily cover
another staff member. By using TIBCO's Portal Builder front end, and BusinessWorks
processing engine information collected in the admissions process, were able to tie directly
into multiple IT systems from one patient management system. This reduced the amount of time
needed to accomplish the same tasks by not having to switch applications numerous times.
As part of the Integration solution team, EA Technologies responsibilities were:
- Architect framework of messaging layer for network traffic of messages for portal.
- Implement SOA arcitecture using TIBCO's JMS & EMS messaging infrastructure, TIBCO's Portalbuilder , TIB/BusinessWorks & SOAP services for patient portal
- Configure multiple LDAP architecture to support active directory and Portal Architecture
- Project management for team of designers and developers of the lifecycle of the project.
